Destination

A beautiful rural coastal area with fabulous quaysides, harbour and natural beaches, perfect for anyone seeking nature. Hayling Island is popular with windsurfers and has some of the best sailing water in the world. The beaches slope gently into the clear blue sea, making bathing safe for all. The borough offers a range of entertainment and popular events.

Beach & Amenities

Hayling Island has 2 European Blue Flag Beaches, shingle with sand dunes and vast expanses of sandbanks that are exposed at low tide. Wild grassy areas separate the beach from the road which provides a fabulous area for picnics. Beach huts are also available. Great for wildlife and Sight of Special Scientific Interest's (SSSI's).

Places to Visit

Country Parks, Funlands Amusements, Emsworth & Havant Museums. Close by is the Historic Dockyard in Portsmouth, the Spinnaker Tower and Gunwharf. Hayling Island has a seaside railway, cycle hire, skate park, donkey rides. Havant and Waterlooville host weekly and occasional theme markets.

Entertainment

Havant Arts Centre is popular for all types of entertainment; exhibitions, productions, dance, comedy and music. The local Station Theatre provides different shows and dramatics all year. The Borough is home to several orchestras.

Shopping

Hayling Island has a variety of individually-owned businesses offering a wide range of goods and services. Emsworth is a delight for shopping, a quaint fishing village full of specialist boutiques. Havant and Waterlooville offer a variety of high street shops as well as local suppliers and town markets.

Eating Out

Fantastic restaurants in Emsworth and Hayling, the borough provides a variety of places to eat, from luxury hotels to a bite to eat in a quaint fishing village. Traditional fish & chips are available at the seaside too.

Recreation & Sport

This is a premier destination for water sports and kite surfing. The borough is popular with walkers and a fascinating area for wildlife watching on the Hayling Billy Line and the SSSI in southern Hayling. Other recreational activities include kite flying, fishing, skating and volleyball. The borough's leisure centres provide extensive sports facilities.
