   Membership Benefits

As a proactive Local Government based Association working in the manner of a trade body for local government sponsored tourism activity, throughout the UK, we aim to offer our local government, tourist boards and commercial members as many benefits as possible within the resources available to us. Effectively we do what the membership want us to do, and this currently includes:

  • Representing UK domestic tourism interests on their behalf within most major national standing tourism committees and groups.
Attending and actively representing their interests at key national meetings and events.
  • Representing their interests within major tourism and tourism related consultations and at formal enquires and other evidence gathering events.
  • Actively lobbying government and others at all levels for beneficial national, regional or local change, whenever the need or opportunity arises.
  • Seeking out and distributing to the membership critical information on the latest threats and opportunities as soon as is practically possible.
  • Finding and spreading good practice information among the membership.
  • Researching and providing answers to, or sources of information relating to member's specific problems.
  • Organising and running National conferences and events to aid the dissemination of information and best practice.
  • Fielding national and regional media enquires, countering negative press and generating positive PR whereever possible.
  • Generating positive PR for the UK domestic product and industry at every opportunity.
  • Putting the media in touch with the membership wherever a positive opportunity presents itself. Providing an annual travel trade and press facing hard copy guide to the membership's product (British Resorts & Destinations 2006).
  • Providing a public facing portal website: www.britishresorts.co.uk
  • Providing access to low cost, high profile, high impact, national advertising.
  • Providing access to beneficial commercial and other opportunities as they present themselves.
  • Providing individual benefits to member representatives, including the use of quality low cost central London accommodation and low cost travel insurance.
  • Actively consider every new opportunity and take action to maximise the potential benefits to the membership and the domestic tourism industry in the UK.
  • Consider any reasonable request made by the membership.
